Don't know about the technicality of it, but I believe it would be pretty useful when making sure the right person is selected. If one can quickly see how that person is actually credited on a specific game, just by one look, it will make less mistakes possible. In those Diablo credits I mentioned earlier, there are two guys with the exact same name credited for the same role, one just next to the other. Even though there are two entries now, chances are that someone will eventually merge them if they don't see that part of the credits. It also prevents from keeping unwanted aka's that would be created by a contributor typo...
